This Thursday Sharon and I are planning a little field trip to the MSU Museum. I have been wanting to see the Masks exibit all since last year and it ends Friday. (Update: Visit the Masks online)
Below, I would like to point out three Greater Lansing museums to you and encourage you to include them on your bucket list for winter family plans. All Three will be well worth the time and offer great exibits. Eli and Edythe does not open until April 21st, however, I suggest you get this one on the calendar.
The Michigan State University Museum, initiated in 1857, is one of the oldest museums in the Midwest and is accredited by the American Association of Museums. The MSU Website states the following: As Michigan’s largest public natural and cultural history museum and the state’s only land-grant university museum, Michigan State University Museum “is committed to understanding, interpreting, and respecting natural and cultural diversity through education, exhibitions, research, and the building and stewardship of collections that focus on Michigan and its relationship to the Great Lakes, and the world beyond.” I’m excited to add this to my list and looking forward to our visit.
MSU Museum has Status: In 2001, the MSU Museum became the first museum in the state to receive Smithsonian affiliate status from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the world’s largest museum and research complex, thereby giving the MSU Museum broader access to Smithsonian cultural and scientific resources.
